“Shane Gillis Live” on Saturday, April 12 brought in a sold-out crowd of 19,619 attendees, adding to the venue’s stacked events lineup in 2025

Washington, D.C. (April 15, 2025) Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) announced today that Shane Gillis’ stop at Capital One Arena in D.C. marked a complete venue sellout, with 19,619 fans in attendance for the comedian’s live show on Saturday night. Gillis’ show marks Capital One Arena’s highest attended concert of 2025 thus far – and ranks among the top 10 highest attended concerts in arena history – rounding out several busy months for the building that welcomed more than 20 third party events attended by more than 250,000 fans. Shane Gillis joins the building’s list of other concert sellouts so far this year including Tyler, The Creator, Kelsea Ballerini, and Deftones.

To celebrate this sold-out performance, Capital One Arena gifted Shane with a one-of-a-kind jacket, designed by Jeanius Jackets (@jeaniusjackets), decorated with a series of hand-crafted patches that pay homage to highlights throughout the actor and comedian’s career. The suite of gifts for Gillis also included a customized poster of his tour artwork, conceptualized by local artist David Scheele (@mxgicdave), and a curated collection of personalized fan notes from ticket purchasers.
Gillis’ performance was part of a packed 48 hours of events at Capital One Arena, preceded on Friday by D.C. College Access Program’s (DC CAP) College Signing Day and the Washington Capitals “GR8 City Celebration” (a fan event in honor of Alex Ovechkin breaking the NHL’s all-time goals record), and followed by a quick changeover Sunday morning for the Capitals home regular season finale against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
In addition to Saturday’s comedy show, Capital One Arena has hosted a variety of events thus far in 2025, including back-to-back inaugural events in January for President Donald J. Trump, the live figure skating tribute “Legacy on Ice” hosted at Capital One Arena on March 2 in support of the victims of the January 29th National Airport aviation tragedy, the Atlantic-10 Men’s Basketball Tournament , headlining artists, family shows, and more.

Capital One Arena serves as the home of the NHL’s Washington Capitals, NBA’s Washington Wizards, and the NCAA’s Georgetown men’s basketball, in addition to hosting a wide range of chart-topping concerts, family shows, and globally significant events annually. Averaging 220 events per year, the arena has hosted over 50 million people and nearly 5,000 events since it opened in 1997, making Capital One Arena the economic heart of Downtown D.C.
Today’s announcement comes as construction is underway on the brand-new Capital One Arena. MSE is taking a 360-degree approach to planning a high-tech, high-touch building that will serve millions of annual visitors for the next 25 years and set a new standard for fan experience and technological innovation.

Gillis is one of the industry’s leading touring comics and is currently in the midst of a 28-city international tour. Season 2 of Gillis’ critically-acclaimed and fan favorite series Tires will premiere on Netflix on June 5th. Season 1 debuted to record numbers and was picked up for return before the first episode even aired.
