Health and safety

Our New Protocols

Capital One Arena is committed to hosting world-class sports and entertainment while keeping all fans, guests, employees, players, and performers safe. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been working diligently with our League partners, the District of Columbia, and our medical experts with MedStar Health, to establish and implement health and safety protocols that follow guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

The number of patrons permitted to attend events at the arena will be subject to District of Columbia guidelines and the requirements of our respective Leagues. Guests will be notified about specific protocols required to attend games/events in-person at the time of purchasing tickets. Each game ticket will be provided in a digital format and will also contain standard “ticket-back” terms, including health and safety requirements (to which each patron attending an event at Capital One Arena shall be subject).

We ask you to carefully read and review the following information before attending an event at Capital One Arena.

And a friendly reminder: if you are feeling sick or experiencing any symptoms, we kindly ask that you stay home.  Thanks for doing your part to keep us all safe.

Masks Required

Masks Required

Face masks that cover both the nose and mouth are required to be worn once you exit your vehicle or public transportation and while inside Capital One Arena at all times except while actively eating or drinking in your designated seat location or suite. All persons age 2 years and older must wear a face covering. Neck gaiters, face masks with valves or vents, costume masks, and bandanas are not acceptable face coverings. Face shields may not be worn in place of a face mask, though they may be worn in addition to a face mask. For guests sitting on the arena floor during Wizards games, masks must be worn at all times while in your seats, with no exceptions.

We have installed plexiglass dividers at various locations throughout Capital One Arena to further reduce risk.

Physical Distancing

Physical Distancing

We ask that guests maintain at least 6 feet of distance between other patrons outside of their immediate party as they arrive at arena entrances.

Once inside, guests are required to maintain at least 6 feet of distance between other patrons while navigating the arena.

If the answer to any of these questions is “yes”, you will not be permitted to enter Capital One Arena.

Enhanced Cleaning

Enhanced Cleaning

Enhanced arena cleaning and disinfecting procedures at Capital One Arena focus on high-touch surfaces (door handles, elevator buttons, escalator railings, etc), restrooms, eating tables, and within the seating bowl.  These enhanced cleaning procedures, intended to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19, have been informed by current CDC guidance, global industry best practices, industry experts and our valued partners.

High touch surfaces and heavily trafficked areas within Capital One Arena will be regularly cleaned and disinfected throughout events by our Clorox Clean Team.  After every event, all spaces and seating areas will go through an additional rigorous disinfection process, using a full suite of best-in-class cleaning and disinfecting products from our partners, Clorox, Libman and Daycon.

Restrooms will be sanitized and cleaned frequently. Some stalls, urinals and sinks may be closed to facilitate physical distancing. Guests must wash their hands before returning to their seats.
