Effective January 15, in compliance with the District of Columbia’s VaxDC policy, all guests ages 12 years and older are required to show proof of vaccination to enter Capital One Arena.

Guests age 12 and older must provide proof of having received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by January 15, 2022 to enter. For those taking a two-dose vaccine, Pfizer or Moderna, proof of a second dose will be required for entry beginning February 15, 2022.

 

Vaccine Mandate FAQs

Q: What are acceptable forms of proof of COVID-19 vaccination status?

A: For proof of vaccination, patrons ages 12 years and older must provide ONE of the following when entering Capital One Arena:

  • CLEAR Health Pass digital vaccination pass 
  • A CDC issued vaccination card (original, photocopy, or digital copy/photo) along with photo ID for guests ages 18 years or older.   
  • Record of immunization from a healthcare provider or public health authority along with photo ID for guests ages 18 years or older.   

Capital One Arena recommends using the CLEAR Health Pass App for quick and easy verification upon arrival at Capital One Arena.

Q: Do guests under the age of 12 need to show proof of vaccination? 

A: No. Children under the age of 12 are not required to show proof of vaccination at this time.

Q: *WIZARDS GAMES ONLY: What is the protocol for children under the age of 12 seated in player-proximate ticket locations?

A: Per NBA protocols, guests seated within 15 feet of the court and/or player benches must provide either proof of vaccination OR proof of a negative COVID test* sampled within 2 days of the game (PCR test) or the day of the game (rapid test).*At-home tests are not accepted.

If seated in a player-proximate ticket location, please follow the guidance below to determine the requirements for children in accordance with NBA and DC mandates.
 
Age 12 years and older: proof of vaccination required.
Age 5-11 years: proof of vaccination OR proof of negative COVID test* required.
Age 2-4 years: proof of negative COVID test* required.
Under age 2 years: no requirements.
*At-home tests are not accepted.

Q: I have a medical or religious exemption. Will I still be able to attend games at Capital One Arena?

A: Guests that are medically exempt from receiving the vaccine, or are unable to receive the vaccine out of a sincerely held religious belief will be permitted to enter the arena providing the following requirements are met: 

  • Guests must provide documentation of medical or religious exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccine, such as a note from a medical provider, along with a photo ID.  
  • Along with supporting documentation for the exemption, all unvaccinated guests must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result within 24 hours of gametime. COVID-19 rapid testing will be available for a fee at Capital One Arena at the Administrative Entrance located on 7th street near the intersection of 7th and G streets beginning 2 hours prior to gametime, up until 1 hour after the game has begun.

 

Guests with documented proof of the following will also be exempt from providing proof of vaccination:

  • Guests that have been given monoclonal antibodies or convalescent plasma for post-exposure prophylaxis within the past 30 days.
  • Guests that have been treated for COVID-19 with monoclonal antibodies or convalescent plasma within the last 90 days.  
  • Guests that have had a diagnosis of MIS-C or MIS-A (Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome-in Children or Adults respectively) in the past 90 days 
Please note that all guests with a valid exemption MUST proceed directly to the Capital One Arena Box Office doors on F Street to enter. Entry with a valid exemption will not be granted at any other entrance. 
 

Q: Do I have to wear my mask if I am vaccinated?

A: Yes. The District of Columbia has mandated face masks while indoors for everyone over the age of two (2) and face masks will be required for all guests for the entirety of the event, including while seated in the arena in the ticket holder’s assigned seat. Face masks must cover the guest’s nose and mouth, and cannot be a gaiter, open-chin triangle handkerchief/bandana, costume mask, mesh material, or a covering with an exhalation valve or holes.

A: We have invested in several upgrades to our air systems and cleaning protocols and invite you to visit our website to learn all we are doing to provide you with a safe and healthy environment at Capital One Arena.

Q. Who needs to show proof of vaccination to enter Capital One Arena?

A: Effective January 15, in compliance with the District of Columbia’s Vax DC policy, all guests ages 12 years and older are required to show proof of vaccination to enter Capital One Arena.

Q: How do I add a minor to my CLEAR Health Pass account?

A: For minors between 14-17 years old, please follow the instructions below:

To add a minor between 14-17 years old to the parent/guardian CLEAR Health Pass account:
  • Open the CLEAR app on parent/guardian’s device 
  • Tap the account icon on the bottom right-hand corner 
  • Select “Minor Accounts” 
  • Your parent or guardian will go through the enrollment process and then be prompted to add in your email address, set up your account, and have you snap a selfie! 
Once your parent or guardian has set up your account, all you need to do is:
  • Download CLEAR on minor’s device
  • Log in with the email and password your parent or guardian set up with you
  • Tap on the white Health Pass tile and enter select the venue
  • Add your proof of vaccine through the CDC card upload option
 
For minors that are unable to complete this process, and for ALL minors ages 12 to 14, please show a printed or digital copy of their vaccination card at entry to the arena. Minors under the age of 12 do not have to show proof of vaccination at this time. 
 

Q: Can I add more than one vaccination card to my CLEAR Health Pass?

A: CLEAR Health Pass can only support one (1) vaccination card at this time and can only integrate the standard 4:3 CDC issued vaccination card. 

Q: Do I need to show my photo ID with my proof of vaccination?

A: The CLEAR Health Pass app verifies your identity. You will only need your ID if you are unable to use the CLEAR Health Pass.

Q: Can I just show my vaccination card or a picture of my vaccination card?

A: We recommend that you upload your information into the free CLEAR app. To use CLEAR Health Pass, download the free CLEAR cell phone app, tap the Health Pass Tile, select Capital One Arena, and enroll. From there, follow the prompts to include your proof of vaccination. If you are unable to utilize CLEAR, a digital or physical copy of your vaccine card along with photo ID will suffice.

Q: What do I do if I received my vaccination in another country?  

A: CLEAR Health Pass does not support vaccination cards from countries outside of the United States. If you received your vaccination in another country, please provide physical proof of vaccination, or a digital photo of a vaccination card, along with photo ID for entry into the arena. 

Q: What if my phone dies?

A: You may experience a delay in entering Capital One Arena. Please proceed directly to the Capital One Arena Box Office doors on F Street on the day of the game you are attending, and staff will be on hand to assist you. Additionally, a digital or physical copy of your vaccination card along with photo ID will suffice. 

Q: What if I don’t have a smart phone? 

A: A digital or physical copy of your vaccination card along with photo ID will suffice.

The District of Columbia’s mask mandate for indoor establishments remains in effect for all fans over the age of two (2). Masks must be worn by all fans in attendance, including at all times while traveling through Capital One Arena.  Masks may be removed only when actively eating or drinking while in your seat or in one of our VIP hospitality areas. All Monumental Sports & Entertainment employees working at games and events, including full time and part time workers at Capital One Arena are required to wear masks.

Our entire security screening process is touchless. As a reminder, no bags are allowed at Capital One Arena. Please review our current bag policy.

We ask that guests maintain at least 6 feet of distance between other patrons outside of their immediate party as they arrive at Capital One Arena entrances.  Additional distancing instructions will be provided for guests upon entering the building.

Bags, backpacks and purses will not be permitted inside the Arena. Wallet-size clutches no larger than 5” x 7” and medical bags and parenting bags no larger than 14″ x 14″ x 6″ will be permitted. All bags permitted are subject to security screening.

A Bag Check is now available for patrons whose bags do not meet the above requirements.  The Bag Check is located near the corner of 6th and F Street.  Space is limited and a fee of $15 per bag will apply.

If you are bringing a medical or parenting bag, please use the entrance on 6th Street near the corner of F Street.

Enhanced Cleaning

Enhanced Cleaning

Enhanced arena cleaning and disinfecting procedures at Capital One Arena focus on high-touch surfaces (door handles, elevator buttons, escalator railings, etc), restrooms, eating tables, and within the seating bowl.  These enhanced cleaning procedures, intended to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19, have been informed by current CDC guidance, global industry best practices, industry experts and our valued partners.

High touch surfaces and heavily trafficked areas within Capital One Arena will be regularly cleaned and disinfected throughout events by our Clorox Clean Team.  After every event, all spaces and seating areas will go through an additional rigorous disinfection process, using a full suite of best-in-class cleaning and disinfecting products from our partners, Clorox, Libman and Daycon.

Restrooms will be sanitized and cleaned frequently. Some stalls, urinals and sinks may be closed to facilitate physical distancing. Guests must wash their hands before returning to their seats.

Monumental Sports & Entertainment has mandated all staff be vaccinated and our staff complete symptom questionnaires before arriving at work and must be fever and symptom-free.
