Capital One Arena will become the first venue in NBA and NHL to deploy Xonar’s TruePort® security screening technology, supporting the transformed arena’s focus on safety, innovation and frictionless fan experience
WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 31, 2026) – Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) today announced a multi-year partnership with Xonar Technology Inc. to deploy Xonar’s TruePort® and TrueScan™ security screening systems at Capital One Arena, bringing the latest security technology to the downtown venue.
Beginning with the 2026-27 NHL and NBA seasons, MSE plans to deploy TruePort® screening units across Capital One Arena’s main entrances, marking the first NHL venue and first NBA venue to deploy Xonar technology. Powered by AI and multi-sensor radar technology, TruePort® is designed to detect both metallic and non-metallic potential threats while allowing guests to move through screening more naturally and efficiently.
The partnership is the latest investment in MSE’s $1B+ transformation of Capital One Arena, which is reimagining every part of the fan journey through new entrances, expanded concourses, enhanced amenities and next-generation technology. With millions of guests entering the arena for sporting and live entertainment events each year, the new screening technology is designed to pair enhanced security capabilities with a faster, more seamless arrival experience.
“As a venue, our responsibility begins before the game, concert or event starts,” said Jordan Silberman, President of Venues at MSE. “Fans should be able to focus on why they came to Capital One Arena, not on the process of getting inside. Xonar will help us make that first moment feel more effortless while giving our security and arena experience teams the confidence and capability to do their jobs at the highest level.”
Xonar TruePort® uses a combination of advanced sensors and AI-powered analysis to help security teams identify a broader range of potential threats than traditional metal-detection technology including 3D printed firearms, ceramic and stainless steel knives, liquid containers and pyrotechnics. Because guests can generally move through screening without stopping to remove everyday personal items, the system is designed to reduce unnecessary interruptions while helping security personnel focus attention where it is needed.
MSE will also deploy Xonar’s TrueScan™, an AI-powered X-ray screening system designed to assist security personnel in identifying prohibited items in bags and other belongings. The technology highlights detected items for security personnel and can be configured to help identify items of particular concern to a venue or event.
“Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s commitment to creating a best-in-class experience for fans made them the ideal partner for Xonar,” said Hans Hufschmid, Chairman and CEO of Xonar Technology Inc. “Bringing Xonar’s multi-sensor, AI-powered threat detection technology to Capital One Arena is an important milestone for Xonar and reflects the growing role that innovative security technology can play in enhancing the safety and efficiency of screening across the sports and entertainment industry.”
The partnership continues MSE’s vision for a high-tech, high-touch arena where technology makes the fan experience more seamless, efficient and connected.
