Washington, D.C. (July 29, 2026) – Monumental Sports Network (MNMT) today announced the launch of District of Basketball, a new weekly podcast taking fans inside the Washington Wizards and Washington Mystics through the perspectives of those shaping basketball in the District. The series will premiere on July 30 and will be hosted by Craig Hoffman, former D.C. sports radio personality and current Senior Director of Basketball Identity & Integration for Monumental Basketball.

Featuring candid, in-depth conversations with players, coaches, executives and alumni, District of Basketball will offer an inside look at how the Wizards and Mystics are built, led and evolving in real time—told by the insiders themselves.

The show launches amid a surge of excitement around Washington basketball, from the Wizards drafting AJ Dybantsa No. 1 in the 2026 NBA Draft, and adding All-Stars Trae Young and Anthony Davis, to the Mystics continued growth around All-Stars Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen. As both franchises chart ambitious new paths, District of Basketball will give fans a rare opportunity to experience the evolution from the inside.

A longtime D.C. sports analyst who spent nearly a decade as one of the region’s leading sports radio personalities, Hoffman followed the franchise closely before joining Monumental Basketball. Now working across the Wizards, Mystics, and Wizards NBA G-League affiliate Capital City Go-Go, he brings a rare combination of outside perspective, institutional knowledge and direct access to the players, coaches, executives and alumni shaping both teams. Through that lens, District of Basketball will take listeners beyond the headlines and inside the decisions, development and culture defining this pivotal moment for Washington basketball.

“I consider myself incredibly lucky to get to see the thoughtfulness, thoroughness and skill it takes to build teams that can perform at the highest levels,” Hoffman said. “This podcast is an opportunity to bring fans behind the scenes of that work, introduce them to the people doing it, and get exclusive insights into these teams at an exciting and pivotal time for basketball in the District.”

The series premiere on July 30 will feature an exclusive interview with Mystics standouts Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron fresh off their appearances at the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game in Chicago. Episode two, publishing Aug. 6, will feature a WNBA Trade Deadline conversation with Mystics Head Coach Sydney Johnson exploring the league’s biggest moves and storylines.

On Aug. 13, the podcast will release a Hall of Fame special honoring former Mystics greats Chamique Holdsclaw, Elena Delle Donne and the late Nikki McCray-Penson ahead of their induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. New episodes will be released every Thursday.

District of Basketball joins the recently re-launched Off the Bench as part of Monumental Sports Network’s slate of original basketball and podcast programming. Hosted by MNMT Wizards reporter Chase Hughes and play-by-play announcer Chris Miller, Off the Bench reflects the voice and perspective of Wizards fans, combining candid discussion and analysis of the franchise’s biggest stories. The shows add to MNMT’s robust roster of audio programming, including Beltway FootballHockey Lifers and Caps Rink Report, that brings Washington sports fans closer to their favorite teams year-round through compelling storytelling.

Fans can watch and listen to District of Basketball on the Monumental+ streaming app, access the podcast across major podcast platforms, watch on YouTube and find episodes through Monumental Sports Network’s podcast hub at MonumentalPlus.com
