State Funeral of President Jimmy Carter to Impact Fans Traveling to Capital One Arena January 7

Washington, D.C. (January 6, 2025) – Fans driving to the Washington Wizards game against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday at Capital One Arena are advised to allow extra travel time and consider alternative routes due to the funeral events of former President Jimmy Carter occurring downtown. Game tipoff is scheduled for Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. 

The Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has announced that there will be road closures, parking restrictions and transit impacts that motorists should take into consideration starting on Monday, Jan. 6 through Thursday, Jan. 9. A complete list of closures can be found HERE.
