Monumental Sports & Entertainment and SportTechie today announced DC Lottery as the presenting partner of the Sports Capital Symposium, their two-day convening of top sports and technology luminaries to be virtually-hosted on Thursday, September 17 – Friday, September 18, 2020. DC Lottery joins an impressive array of corporate underwriters including Deloitte LLP, Comcast Business, NFL Players Association, Comcast NBC Universal’s SportsTech, SSB, Tally, ColorNet Printing & Graphics and Sportsdigita. This event is free and open to the public.

“This inaugural effort to bring together the most innovative, creative professionals working across various verticals in the sports and technology space has generated tremendous excitement and we couldn’t be more grateful to the corporate partners who recognize the value which the Sports Capital Symposium will produce,” said Zach Leonsis, SVP of Strategic Initiatives at MSE. “Washington D.C. has truly become a Sports Capital, with professional sports teams claiming recent championship wins in hockey, women’s basketball, baseball and – as of just two weeks ago – in esports like the NBA 2K League. We are proud to partner with SportTechie to bring this convening to the thousands who will join us beginning this Thursday, and spark ideas which will become the norm in next generation sports.”

While the event is gratis to register and participate, attendees are encouraged to donate to the designated nonprofit beneficiary of the symposium, Black Girls CODE, during their registration process and throughout the two-day event. As sessions are presented, attendees can donate to help young women of color build skills to pursue careers in the technology and innovation field. Black Girls CODE is devoted to showing the world that black girls can code and do so much more. Black Girls CODE’s ultimate goal is to provide Black youth with the skills to occupy some of the 1.4 million computing jobs across the US and train 1 million girls by 2040. “DC Lottery is proud to join with this elite group of sports and technology leaders who are just as invested in fostering deeper community ties and creating greater economic vitality as we do for the residents of the District of Columbia,” said Beth Bresnahan, Executive Director, Office of Lottery and Gaming. “As technology continues to evolve and fans consume sports in unique ways, DC Lottery is committed to remaining on the forefront of innovation and it is conversations like the Sports Capital Symposium which help ensure we do so.”

The symposium, a collaboration between Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) and SportTechie, is a first-of-its kind event for the Washington D.C. region, bringing together top innovators in the next generation of sports innovation and technology. The more than 2,200 already-registered participants will hear from National Hockey League (NHL) Commissioner Gary Bettman, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bower, MSE Chairman & CEO Ted Leonsis and MSE Senior Vice President, Strategic Initiatives, Zach Leonsis. They lead an inspiring line up of speakers which also includes NFL Super Bowl Champion Russell Wilson, Founder & CEO of Black Girls CODE Kimberly Bryant, Greater Washington Managing Principal of Deloitte LLP Tamika Tremaglio, William Hill CEO Joe Asher, Sports Programming & Partnerships at Facebook Ben Berchuck, among dozens of others.

“We couldn’t execute these types of impactful conferences without support from our corporate partners like DC Lottery and we sincerely thank all of them very much,” said Taylor Bloom, SportTechie’s CEO. “Because of their support, we can look forward to seeing the sports industry come together this week for two days of engaging content and unparalleled networking opportunities in a unique virtual environment.”
