Traffic Advisory: 2026 DC Chinese New Year Parade May Impact Fans Traveling to Sunday’s Wizards Game at Capital One Arena

Washington, D.C. (February 20, 2026) – Fans traveling to Sunday night’s Washington Wizards game at Capital One Arena are advised to allow extra travel time due to the 2026 DC Chinese New Year Parade scheduled to take place that afternoon in the Gallery Place/Chinatown area. The Wizards are set to host the Charlotte Hornets at 6 p.m.   

The Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has announced that there will be road closures and parking restrictions that motorists should take into consideration effective from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Fans can find a complete list of road closures and parking restrictions HERE. 

Those driving to the arena should plan alternate routes or consider arriving via public transit to avoid delays.
