Traffic Advisory: Marine Corps Marathon to Impact Fans Traveling to Sunday’s Washington Wizards Home Opener at Capital One Arena

Washington, D.C. (October 24, 2025) – Fans driving to Sunday evening’s Washington Wizards home opener at Capital One Arena are advised to allow extra travel time due to the 50th Marine Corps Marathon taking place around Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia. The Wizards are set to host the Charlotte Hornets in their home opener with tipoff scheduled for 6 p.m. 

The Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), Arlington County, and the marathon event organizers have announced that there will be road closures, parking restrictions and transit impacts that motorists should take into consideration effective from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m on Sunday. Those driving to the arena should plan alternate routes or consider arriving via public transit to avoid delays.
