Wall to join Wizards studio coverage as Haywood takes seat as color commentator for select game broadcasts
WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 30, 2025) – Monumental Sports Network (MNMT) today announced that former Washington Wizards stars John Wall and Brendan Haywood are joining its Wizards broadcast team for the 2025–26 NBA season. Wall, a five-time NBA All-Star and one of the most iconic players in franchise history, will serve as a studio analyst on Wizards Pregame Live and Wizards Postgame Live. Haywood, a member of the Wizards frontcourt for nearly a decade, will join the broadcast booth as the network’s newest color commentator for a package of live games.
Wall will make his MNMT debut during the broadcast on Saturday, Nov. 8, when the Wizards host the Dallas Mavericks at Capital One Arena. Haywood’s first appearance in the booth will come one week earlier, on Saturday, Nov. 1, as the Wizards take on the Orlando Magic.
“John and Brendan are not only beloved figures in Wizards history, but they also bring a wealth of basketball knowledge, insight, and personality that fans will instantly connect with,” said Zach Leonsis, President of Media & New Enterprises at Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE). “We take great pride in featuring a strong roster of former players and team alumni across our Capitals, Wizards, and Mystics broadcasts — voices who truly understand what it means to represent D.C. John and Brendan will add invaluable perspective and expert analysis as this young Wizards team continues to grow and develop. We’re thrilled to have them both join our broadcast family and continue their connection to the D.C. community.”
Wall, 34, retired this summer after a standout 11-year NBA career. The Wizards selected him with the first overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft out of Kentucky, and he went on to become one of the most dynamic point guards of his generation. A five-time All-Star, Wall averaged 18.7 points and 8.9 assists per game over his career, earned All-Defensive Second Team honors in 2015, and won the 2014 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. In addition to his work with MNMT, Wall will serve as an analyst for Amazon Prime Video’s NBA coverage.
“Washington, D.C. will always be my second home. The city, the fans, and the Wizards organization have all played a huge role in my life and career,” said Wall. “I’m excited to join Monumental Sports Network and the Wizards studio team as I continue the next chapter of my basketball journey and be back around the game in a place that means so much to me.”
Haywood enjoyed a 13-season NBA career and won an NBA title in 2011 with the Dallas Mavericks. Drafted 20th overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2001 and traded to Washington on draft night, Haywood played with the Wizards from 2001 to 2010. Following his playing career, he has established himself as a respected broadcaster, serving as a college basketball analyst for NBC/Peacock and CBS Sports, as well as co-hosting on SiriusXM NBA Radio. A North Carolina alum, Haywood brings deep basketball expertise and a familiar voice to Wizards fans.
“As a former Wizards player, I’m super excited to be back in D.C. and calling games for this young and exciting team,” said Haywood. “I can’t wait to share this new chapter with the fans and be part of the energy that’s building here.”
The Wizards broadcast booth for the upcoming season will once again feature play-by-play announcer Chris Miller, entering his fourth season with MNMT, and lead color analyst Drew Gooden, who returns for his seventh season as the network’s primary in-game commentator. Haywood will join the broadcast team throughout the season for select games, bringing his championship experience and insight to the booth. Wizards broadcasts will also include sideline reporter Meghan McPeak, entering her fourth season on Wizards coverage.
Wes Hall returns as the host of Wizards Pregame Live and Wizards Postgame Live and will be joined by Wall and a strong rotation of analysts, including Jason Smith, Christy Winters Scott, Tony Massenburg, Jimmy Patsos, and Greivis Vásquez, along with appearances from Glenn Consor and Ron Thompson.
Live Wizards games on MNMT are available to local fans both on linear tv and via streaming platforms within the network’s coverage area, stretching from Richmond to Delaware.
