Streaming viewership up 39% and original programming expands as MNMT redefines local WNBA coverage
Washington, D.C. (July 17, 2025) – As the 2025 WNBA season enters the All-Star Break, local TV viewership for Washington Mystics games on Monumental Sports Network (MNMT) has increased 34% in the D.C. and Baltimore markets through the first 20 games compared to last season (Source: Nielsen Media Research, DC & BL DMA’s, HH demo. Data based on Washington Mystics games on MNMT/MNMT2, from 5/14/24 – 7/10/25).
The team’s exciting young core and the growth of women’s basketball fandom has translated to a strong performance for the Mystics on linear TV through the first half of the season. Notably, live Mystics games on MNMT this year have regularly outperformed competitor networks’ programming during the same time slot, including ESPN2 in 94% of games and Fox Sports 1 in 88% of games (Source: Nielsen Media Research, DC & BL DMA’s, P2+ demo. Data based on Washington Mystics games on MNMT/MNMT2, from 5/18/25 – 7/10/25).
Streaming activity for Mystics games has never been higher, buoyed by the launch of the best-in-class Monumental+ digital platform last fall. Through the midway point, Mystics fans have streamed 26% more average minutes per user than they did during the first half of the 2024 season and unique streaming viewers for Mystics games have increased 39% year-over-year (Source: Streaming data based on ViewLift reports).
“Monumental Sports Network is proud to see a continued surge in viewership for the Mystics during this exciting season where two of our rookies earned WNBA All-Star honors,” said Zach Leonsis, President of Media & New Enterprises at Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE). “This sustained momentum in audience growth proves that last year’s viewership surge was no anomaly but rather part of an ongoing trend. The passion of Mystics fans and their dedication to watching the team—both on TV and through our innovative streaming platform—continues to impress and inspire us.”
In total, 38 regular season Mystics games will air on MNMT during the current season. In addition to live game broadcasts, the network’s Mystics coverage includes live gameday shoulder programs Mystics Pregame Live and Mystics Postgame Live, Mystics-themed original programming like the award-winning Mystics Courtside and Fresh Paint, and robust multiplatform content covering top storylines.
