Monumental Sports Network to Broadcast 52nd Hoop Culture Capital Classic

Boys and girls high school basketball showcase on April 26 will be available to fans throughout DMV region 

Washington, D.C. (March 27, 2025) Monumental Sports Network (MNMT) announced today that the network will air the 52nd year of the Hoop Culture Capital Classic presented by Events DC on Saturday, April 26. The Capital Classic is one of the most prestigious high school basketball All-American games in the nation, bringing together the next generation of basketball superstars for a showcase between the best players in the DMV region versus the best players throughout the rest of the United States.  

This year’s event will be played at CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C., home to the WNBA’s Washington Mystics and NBA G League’s Capital City Go-Go and operated by Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE). The broadcast will begin at 12:00 PM with the first-ever DMV Girls All-Star Game, featuring the top high school girls basketball talent from the D.C. area, and will conclude with the 2025 Boys Capital Classic Game at 1:30 PM, featuring the Capital All Stars and U.S. All Stars.

MNMT will provide a full broadcast team featuring the network’s on-air talent for both games of the Capital Classic. For the DMV Girls All-Star Game, MNMT’s Shaun Salehi will serve as the play-by-play announcer with Christy Winters-Scott providing color commentary and Chase Hughes as the sideline reporter. MNMT’s Bijan Todd will assume play-by-play duties for the boys game, with Glenn Consor providing color commentary and Tyler Byrum serving as the sideline reporter. Wizards guard and Capital Classic alum Bub Carrington will also be honored during the event. Capital Classic tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster, starting at $25.  

More than three million households in the network’s coverage area can watch this highly anticipated event on MNMT next month. Local basketball fans can watch the games through their Pay TV subscription, on monumentalplus.com, or by downloading the state-of-the-art Monumental+ app on iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku, and Amazon Fire TV and using an eligible TV Everywhere log-in.

The U.S. Boys All-Stars roster and the rosters for the DMV Girls All-Star Game will be announced next week. 

The Capital Classic is the latest addition to a loaded 2024-25 high school basketball slate on MNMT. As part of MNMT’s goal to elevate local sports at all levels, the award-winning local media platform streamed seven prestigious D.C.-area high school basketball tournaments during the year. The seven tournaments featured both boys and girls games and took place at various locations throughout D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Each game included a professional broadcast team, including on-air play-by-play and color commentary. In total, MNMT streamed nearly 30 live high school basketball games this season.  

MNMT is the exclusive local television media rights holder for the NHL’s Washington Capitals, NBA’s Washington Wizards, Mystics, and Go-Go.
