Monumental Sports Network Partners with Five Local Universities and HBCU GO for Robust 2024-25 College Basketball Schedule

Network to Air Record 67 College Basketball Games During Upcoming Season

Washington, D.C. (November 4, 2024) – As the college basketball season tips off this month, Monumental Sports Network (MNMT) today announced partnerships with George Washington University, University of Richmond, Hampton University, George Mason University, and Towson University – schools from all three jurisdictions within the DMV – to air college basketball games on the network during the upcoming season.

Monumental’s 2024-25 college basketball schedule features 67 games, including 31 women’s games. That total represents the most college basketball games to air on the network during a single season and includes 10 more women’s games than last season.

As part of this year’s slate of games, MNMT will also continue its partnership with HBCU GO to air 20 taped men’s and women’s basketball games from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), including local Virginia Union University and Virginia St. University. MNMT aired a 20-game HBCU GO slate during last year’s college basketball season as well. In August, Monumental Sports Network announced a 20-game college football slate that included 16 games featuring HBCUs and local schools.

“As we continue to expand our live programming lineup, Monumental Sports Network is proud to air a record number of college basketball games this season,” said Caitlin Mangum, Vice President, Content & Programming, Monumental Sports Network. “With universities from D.C., Maryland, and Viginia, as well as several HBCUs playing on our air this year, we are achieving our goal of using our platform to uplift local athletics at all levels and provide the most robust D.C. sports programming in the market.”

More than three million households in the network’s coverage area, stretching from Richmond to Delaware, can watch DMV-area teams play on the network over the coming months. Local college basketball fans with a TV provider can watch games on Monumental Sports Network on their TV and will also be able to steam games at monumentalplus.com or by downloading the brand-new Monumental+ app on iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku, and Amazon Fire TV and using an eligible TV Everywhere log-in.

In addition to the network’s college basketball coverage, Monumental Sports Network is the exclusive local television media rights holder for the NHL’s Washington Capitals, NBA’s Washington Wizards, WNBA’s Washington Mystics, and NBA G League’s Capital City Go-Go. It also proudly boasts a comprehensive schedule of original programming and live college football, college volleyball, high school basketball, and esports, as well as Washington Spirit (NWSL), Old Glory DC (Major League Rugby), Washington Freedom (Major League Cricket), Hershey Bears (AHL), and Annapolis Blues (NPSL) games. In total, MNMT will air close to 500 games during the 2024-25 season, an all-time high.

Monumental Sports Network’s college basketball coverage starts on Saturday, November 16 with a doubleheader as Hampton’s men’s and women’s basketball teams take on Norfolk St. at 5 PM and 8 PM respectively.
