Traffic Alert: Chinese New Year Celebration to Impact Fans Driving to Sunday’s Capitals Game

Fans driving to Sunday afternoon’s Capitals game at Capital One Arena are advised to allow extra travel time and consider alternative modes of transportation due to road closures for the Chinese New Year celebration. The Capitals are scheduled to play the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.

The Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has announced that there will be parking restrictions and street closures that motorists should take into consideration throughout the day, including several in the immediate vicinity of Capital One Arena.

Fans arriving from the North should plan to avoid 6th and 7th Streets because of road closures. Game day traffic will be allowed to access the arena and neighboring parking garages throughout the day by going North on 6th Street from F Street. Fans can find a complete list of Sunday’s road closures HERE.

Fans should refer to MPD for additional information and are encouraged to visit twitter.com/DCPoliceTraffic for the latest updates.
