Red Line Metro Construction to Impact Fans Traveling to Capital One Arena December 18-30

 

Washington, D.C. (December 15, 2023)Fans traveling via Metro to Capital One Arena between Monday, December 18 and Saturday, December 30, 2023 are advised to allow extra travel time and consider alternative modes of transportation due to major construction on the Red Line.  

Because of the construction, Red Line service will be unavailable between the Dupont Circle and Gallery Place stations December 18-21 and 25-30, and service will be unavailable between Dupont Circle and Union Station December 22-24.  

The construction work will impact two Madonna shows at Capital One Arena on December 18 and 19, as well as three Washington Capitals games and three Washington Wizards games.  

The start times for each event are below and patrons using the Red Line should account for the additional time needed. 

Capital One Arena Schedule 

Monday, Dec. 18 – Madonna: The Celebration Tour (8:30 PM) 

Tuesday, Dec. 19 – Madonna: The Celebration Tour (8:30 PM) 

Wednesday, Dec. 20 – Capitals vs. Islanders (7:30 PM) 

Saturday, Dec. 23 – Capitals vs. Lightning (7:00 PM) 

Tuesday, Dec. 26 – Wizards vs. Magic (7:00 PM) 

Wednesday, Dec. 27 – Wizards vs. Raptors (7:00 PM) 

Friday, Dec. 29 – Wizards vs. Nets (7:00 PM) 

Saturday, Dec. 30 – Capitals vs. Predators (7:00 PM) 

Guests traveling on any other Metro Line will not experience interrupted service at the Metro Center or Gallery Place stops, as the service interruption only affects the Red Line. Free shuttle buses will replace Red Line trains during normal Metro hours while the line is under construction.
