Nine George Washington Basketball Games to be Aired on Monumental Sports Network during 2023-24 Seasons

Washington, D.C. – GW Athletics, in partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment, announced today that nine home men’s and women’s basketball games will be aired on Monumental Sports Network to more than three million subscribers in the network’s footprint this season.

Additionally, the Raise High at GW Coaches Show returns for a fourth season with shows airing on Monumental Sports Network every other Saturday during the course of the year. The first episode is scheduled to air Saturday, November 4 at 11 a.m.

Once again this season, GW is proud to have former Siena and Loyola (Md.) head coach and Monumental basketball contributor Jimmy Patsos as part of its coverage team. Patsos will provide color commentary alongside Byron Kerr during men’s basketball games in addition to contributing to Raise High at GW with men’s basketball head coach Chris Caputo. On women’s game broadcasts, women’s basketball alumna and multi-time A-10 Champion Camila Tapias will join Kerr.

“To be able to showcase our basketball teams on the premier network for hoops in the region is an excellent opportunity for our university, coaches, student-athletes and community,” said GW Director of Athletics Tanya Vogel. “With four all A-10 preseason honorees between our men’s and women’s programs, and a history of success in basketball as strong as anyone in the conference, we are looking forward to this upcoming season with high enthusiasm and excitement, and it’s a privilege to have Monumental Sports & Entertainment as a partner.”

In total, the network will air four men’s basketball games and five women’s basketball contests on its flagship channel. In August 2022, Monumental Sports & Entertainment acquired full ownership of NBC Sports Washington from Comcast/NBC Universal. The station was rebranded Monumental Sports Network this September with a new slate of programming. The network is the exclusive local television media rights holder for the NHL’s Washington Capitals, NBA’s Washington Wizards and WNBA’s Washington Mystics and also boasts the most comprehensive regional collegiate Division II-and-under and regional high-school sports programming in the greater Washington, D.C. metro area.

“We are ecstatic to offer GW students, alumni, and fans several opportunities to watch their basketball teams play on our network this season,” said Monumental Sports Network General Manager Friday Abernethy. “The DMV area is a hotbed for basketball at all levels and we are proud to feature a strong offering of local NBA, college, and high school hoops action on our platform.”
