Washington, D.C. – Today, Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) and Capital One Arena announced a donation of $18,000 to DC Central Kitchen (DCCK), a local nonprofit fighting hunger and poverty, on behalf of Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band at the band’s show last night in D.C. on March 27, 2023.
“Bruce Springsteen has been a consistent champion of fighting hunger and poverty in communities across our country, and our organization’s work with DC Central Kitchen perfectly aligns with that mission – so we saw this donation in his name as a fitting tribute to this iconic artist,” said Jordan Silberman, Executive Vice President & General Manager of Capital One Arena. “The life-long memories Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band created at last night’s show is the kind of legacy of support we hope this donation makes on the lives of our fellow Washingtonians assisted by DC Central Kitchen.”
Instead of presenting the headlining artist with a physical gift of appreciation, Capital One Arena is proud to honor Bruce Springsteen’s philanthropic commitments and support DCCK as they continue their work to break the cycle of hunger and poverty in Washington, D.C. DCCK volunteers had a tabling presence onsite at Monday night’s performance to solicit additional donations. Fans were able to donate with cash or electronically via square credit card readers located at DCCK’s table on the main concourse at section 104.
“This remarkable gift speaks to the incredible, lasting friendship of Bruce Springsteen, The E Street Band, and Monumental Sports & Entertainment,” said DCCK CEO Mike Curtin, Jr. “High-impact partnerships like these are essential to our ongoing fight against hunger and poverty and show what is possible when a community comes together to solve problems.”
DC Central Kitchen has been a proud partner of MSE for over 10 years and is a two-time NBA Foundation grant recipient. MSE previously teamed up with DCCK in January of 2020 as a part of Monumental’s 2019-20 Social Impact program, raising over $132k to give 10 additional students the opportunity to participate in the Culinary Job Training Program, and funded 12,000 more direct meals to the D.C. community.
This tour marked Springsteen and The E Street Band’s return to Capital One Arena after seven years, with their last performance dating January 29, 2016, The River Tour.
