Parking restrictions and street closures to impact fans traveling to and from Capital One Arena

Washington, D.C. – The Metropolitan Police Department announced parking restrictions and street closures for the 99^th annual Christmas Tree Lighting to take place in the District Thursday, December 2, 2021. Parking limitations will begin on select streets starting at 9:30 a.m., with street closures beginning at approximately 1 p.m.

Fans attending the Washington Capitals game at Capital One Arena tonight at 7 p.m. are encouraged to provide for extra travel time and parking, take alternate routes or use public transportation. Motorist should proceed with caution in anticipation of increased pedestrian traffic.

The following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.:

• 17^th Street between Pennsylvania Avenue to Constitution Avenue, NW
• Constitution Avenue between 18^th Street and 14^th Street, NW
• 15^th Street between H Street and Constitution Avenue, NW

The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic from approximately 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.:

• 17^th Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and Independence Avenue, SW
• C Street between 17^th Street and 18^th Street, NW
• D Street between 17^th Street and 18^th Street, NW
• E Street between 17^th Street and 18^th Street, NW
• F Street between 17^th Street and 18^th Street, NW
• G Street between 17^th Street and 18^th Street, NW
• New York Avenue between 17^th Street and 18^th Street, NW
• Constitution Avenue between 18^th Street and 14^th Street, NW
• 15^th Street between H Street and Madison Drive, NW (Traffic will be allowed to flow south on 15^th Street from Madison Drive, NW)
• Pennsylvania Avenue between 14^th Street and 15^th Street, NW
• E Street between 14^th Street and 15^th Street, NW
• F Street between 14^th Street and 15^th Street, NW
• G Street between 14^th Street and 15^th Street, NW
• New York Avenue between 14^th Street and 15^th Street, NW
