Monica Dixon Named to Sports Business Journal’s 2021 Class of Game Changers: Women In Sports Business

Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s Chief Administrative Officer and President, External Affairs honored during the Sports Business Journal’s New York City Conference on October 20, 2021

Washington, D.C. – October 20, 2021 – Monica Dixon, chief administrative officer and president, external affairs for Monumental Sports & Entertainment and chair of the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation, has been selected to Sports Business Journal’s 2021 Game Changers class, honoring women who are leaders, trailblazers, and innovators in the sports industry.

In her sixth year with MSE, Monica manages communications, government relations, strategic planning, and project management throughout the organization. Most recently she was instrumental in MSE’s industry-leading investment in gaming with the announcement of the first-ever sports book location within a U.S. sports complex at Capital One Arena. She has also led the company’s senior leadership team in driving a strategy for setting policies and dealing with the business implications around the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccines, and the returning of live, in-person entertainment.

“Monica has consistently been a strong leader who has helped to move our organization forward in sports, advocacy, innovation and social impact, “said Ted Leonsis Founder & CEO of Monumental Sports & Entertainment. “The entire MSE family is very proud of Monica’s accomplishments and this fitting recognition.”

Monica has spent her career providing strategic and management consulting for high-profile individuals and institutions, including the White House, national advocacy organizations, and candidates for federal office. She has been a strategist to a Vice President, CEOs, Corporations, Board of Directors, and campaigns and issue-based organizations on matters of management, strategic communications, and public affairs. Prior to joining MSE, she was President of Dixon Consulting and previously served as COO of Washington 2024, the local effort to bring the 2024 to the nation’s capital.

Monica is co-chair of the Local Advisory Board of College Track, an organization supporting first-generation students with limited resources chart their court to and through college. She also serves as the chair of CARE Action Board, which advocates for women and girls around the world as a part of the global-poverty humanitarian organization CARE.

Working consistently to create a culture that is positive for women in sports, Monica has been a barrier breaker across her career and has a tremendous perspective advice for women on navigating their careers, professional relationships and thinking outside the box so they may continue to pursue leadership positions in the sports industry.

The 2021 Game Changers gathered to be honored in person at the Game Changers Conference presented by Sports Business Journal on October 20 in New York City.
