Immersive highlights enhance production and storytelling capabilities across on-air, in-arena and digital channels

Monumental Sports & Entertainment and the Washington Wizards have announced the installation of Intel True View technology at Capital One Arena which will provide fans with access to 360-degree highlights in-arena, on-air and via digital channels for Wizards regular season games this season.

Intel True View is an end-to-end technology solution that delivers views which traditional cameras cannot, then provides those spectacular views to broadcast, digital, and mobile platforms. As part of phase II of renovations at Capital One Arena, a total of 38 5K cameras were mounted around the venue to capture volumetric video that, once processed, renders 360-degree replays, stunning freeze frames and compelling stories from any perspective on the court.

“We are thrilled to unveil this immersive media technology at Capital One Arena for Wizards games this season,” Zach Leonsis, Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Monumental Sports & Entertainment, said. “Intel True View enhancements will give broadcasters and fans access to replays from every angle in the arena, magnifying the viewing experience in the venue, on NBC Sports Washington, as well as digitally.”

“Intel Sports is excited to partner with Monumental Sports & Entertainment and the Washington Wizards because of their commitment to delivering unrivaled live experiences through the use of innovative technology. This partnership is a great example of how sports and technology leaders are collaborating to enhance the fan experience. Intel True View will deliver next generation immersive media experiences and provide fans with more ways to engage without boundaries or limitations,” said James Carwana, General Manager, Intel Sports.

“Intel True View will add another significant enhancement to NBC Sports Washington’s live coverage of the Wizards,” said NBC Sports Washington SVP & GM Damon Phillips. “It’s our top priority to serve fans with the most-engaging content possible, so we are excited to bring this technology to our platforms, and thankful for Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s continued innovation.”

Intel True View highlights will be available during Wizards broadcasts on NBC Sports Washington and on a variety of programming surrounding games, in addition to Wizards mobile and social platforms, and in-arena. The first Intel True View highlights are expected to be available beginning with the Wizards home regular season opener against the Houston Rockets Oct. 30.
