Washington, D.C. (October 26, 2025)As the Washington Wizards begin the 2025-26 NBA regular season, Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) is unveiling the team’s new locker room and player areas designed specifically for game days at Capital One Arena, distinct from the Wizards’ full-time practice facility at the MedStar Health Performance Center. Notably, the team’s new game day compound is the largest across the NBA in an arena where the practice facility is not attached.

Unveiled ahead of the Wizards’ home opener on Sunday night against the Charlotte Hornets, the new space underscores MSE’s vision to transform the athlete experience and reimagine fan engagement in downtown Washington, D.C. These upgraded player areas mark a significant milestone in Phase One of MSE’s $1 billion arena transformation, creating a next-level destination for athletes at the brand-new arena.

“This world-class player space represents a bold investment in the future of the Wizards and immediately catapults the team to the top-tier of the NBA in terms of in-arena player facilities,” said Jordan Silberman, President, Venues at MSE. “With these new facilities we’re building a foundation for sustained excellence and have created a space where performance, preparation, and recovery are fully integrated, giving our players and coaches the tools they need to thrive at the highest level.”

The completely revamped Wizards player spaces—now three times the size of their previous accommodations—serve as a true sanctuary for players and coaches on game nights. Once entering the main locker room doors, they’ll find thoughtfully designed areas throughout, each focused on meeting the performance needs of the athletes and featuring several first-rate amenities, including:

State-of-the-Art Locker Room & Player Spaces featuring personalized touches, vaulted ceilings, and an incredibly efficient layout allowing quick access to the court, training areas, weight room, and ground transportation. Each athlete enjoys expanded personal space and the locker room’s design eliminates all corners for a sleek, open feel.

Private Player Dining Lounge & Team Kitchen — a dedicated, onsite culinary space unique among NBA arenas without attached practice facilities, offering players convenience, privacy, and top-tier nutrition support.

Connected Recovery Facilities with cutting-edge hydrotherapy pools, saunas accommodating over eight people, five-foot-deep plunge pools, Figueras bench seating that can raise to custom heights and provide heating, and massage areas—all directly accessible from the locker room to optimize recovery and performance.

Advanced Media & Analytics Integration showcasing the most impressive teaching wall in professional sports: a 20-foot-wide by 6-foot-tall video monitor capable of splitting into multiple sources to enhance film review, analytics, and strategic planning.

Dedicated “Hype Zone” Experience creating a high-energy, immersive entrance from the locker room to the court—engaging fans and fueling team spirit every game night.

The upgraded compound also includes a reimagined family lounge, enhanced media facilities, and improved visiting team spaces (now the largest across the NBA in a dual-tenant building), supporting MSE’s mission to set a new benchmark for professional sports excellence.

Today’s announcement comes as Phase One of the Capital One Arena transformation – focused on the arena’s event level – is nearing completion as fans return for the 2025–26 season. Earlier this month, MSE unveiled images of the Washington Capitals brand-new locker room and athlete areas ahead of the start of the NHL season.

Additional Phase One arena upgrades include new world-class premium fan experiences including the United Globe Club and Lounge and the Lexus Vaults – available to fans early in the 2025-26 season – as well as new elevators and initial modifications to fan seating areas.

This new and improved infrastructure mirrors MSE’s pursuit of excellence at the highest level. The result of a groundbreaking partnership between MSE and the city of Washington, D.C., the arena transformation will deliver a high-tech, high-touch, and community-focused arena designed to serve millions of visitors annually for decades to come. The fully modernized arena will be delivered in time for the 2027-28 NBA and NHL seasons.
