Monumental Sports & Entertainment Mourns the Passing of Partner Roger Mody

Roger will be honored in-arena ahead of the Capitals’ season opener on October 8

Washington, D.C. (September 25, 2025) – Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) joins the community in mourning the recent passing of longtime partner and cherished friend Roger Mody. A respected business leader, devoted philanthropist, and beloved member of the MSE family, Roger Mody leaves behind a legacy of impact and generosity.

“Roger’s role as a partner at Monumental was only one part of the deep impact he had on all of us,” said Ted Leonsis, CEO and Founder of MSE. “His optimism, generosity, and larger-than-life presence made a lasting impact on everyone around him. Whether courtside at Wizards games or finding purpose in giving back to the community, Roger brought passion, style, and heart to everything he did. We will miss him deeply.”

In recognition of Roger’s impact on MSE, the D.C. community, and beyond, a special video tribute will be played on the scoreboard on October 8 ahead of the Washington Capitals’ regular season opener at Capital One Arena.

“Roger’s legacy is woven into the very fabric of Monumental,” added Zach Leonsis, President of Media & New Enterprises at MSE. “He brought passion, joy, and generosity to everything he touched. It was an honor to work alongside him and call him a friend.”

Roger joined MSE as a partner in 2011 after a highly successful career in business and philanthropy. He was the co-founder and former CEO of Signal Corp., and later established The Mody Foundation, which supports nonprofits focused on underprivileged children.
