Washington, D.C. (December 20, 2024) – Fans traveling to Capital One Arena via Metro’s Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines between Friday, December 20 and Monday, December 30 are advised to allow extra travel time and consider alternative modes of transportation due to major construction on those lines, announced by WMATA.
Due to the construction, the Farragut West and McPherson Square stations will be closed and Blue, Orange, and Silver Line service will be unavailable on the lower level of Metro Center beginning on December 20. Federal Triangle, Smithsonian, and the lower level of L’Enfant Plaza will close starting on December 27. All stations will resume normal operations on December 31.
The construction work will impact two Trans-Siberian Orchestra shows at Capital One Arena on December 23, as well as three Washington Wizards games, two Washington Capitals games, and one Georgetown University men’s basketball game.
Guests traveling to Gallery Place via the Red, Yellow, or Green Lines will not experience interrupted service. Free shuttle buses will replace closed Blue, Orange, and Silver Line stops during normal Metro hours while construction is ongoing – CLICK HERE for further information.
