Fans at Capital One Arena and in D.C. are eligible to purchase tickets during Capitals and Wizards home games; Proceeds from all ticket sales to be reinvested in the local region via Foundation programing
Washington, D.C. – Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE), which owns and operates the Washington Capitals, Wizards, Mystics, and Capital One Arena, today announced that its MSE Foundation (MSEF) is hosting the popular 50/50 raffle for all home games during the 2022-23 seasons for the Capitals and Wizards with the option to purchase tickets online at Monumental5050.com or in-arena at 50/50 raffle kiosks at section 115 and 120 or from roving sellers. Raffle proceeds directly support MSEF programing and events benefiting D.C.-area nonprofits and community partners.
The MSE Foundation uses the funds to build playgrounds in the DMV, provide school supplies to elementary school children, holiday meals and gifts to families facing challenges and gives to organizations providing support to military families, cancer research and many others. To date, the MSE Foundation has raised nearly $2.6 million through Capitals and Wizards 50/50 raffles for its work.
Capitals 50/50 raffles are already underway, launching at the first preseason game on September 25, with the Wizards taking place during the home opener against the Bulls on Friday, October 21. Raffle tickets will go on sale at noon online and when doors open at the arena and will be on sale until the end of the 2nd period for Capitals games and until the end of the 3rd quarter for Wizards games. Raffle winners will be announced at Capital One Arena and posted on the in-arena video board. They will also be posted on the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation Twitter and at MonumentalFoundation.org/5050.
In the 50/50 raffle, tickets are sold and collected and then one ticket is drawn to receive half (or 50%) of the total jackpot collected while the other half (50%) goes to the MSE Foundation for its charitable efforts. The total amount of the jackpot varies based on the total number of tickets sold.
Tickets are sold in the following increments: 10 tickets for $10, 40 tickets for $20, 100 tickets for $40 and 300 tickets for $100.
In partnership with Ascend Fundraising Solutions, the MSE Foundation received licenses from the D.C. Office of Lottery and Gaming to open online raffle ticket sales to any fan present in the District of Columbia during home games for the Capitals and Wizards. This gives more fans an opportunity to play and win cash prizes and allows the MSE Foundation to advance its charitable work.
Raffle participants must be 18 years of age or older and must be physically present within the borders of the District when purchasing tickets; however, they need not be District residents. For full information on the rules and procedures, please visit: MonumentalFoundation.org/5050.
