Monumental Sports & Entertainment Partners with KETTLER on First-Ever “Raise the Game” Virtual 5K Benefitting the Community

Proceeds of Registration Fee and Independent Donations will benefit Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation’s “Feeding the Frontlines” fund and the Children’s Inn at NIH

Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) and KETTLER will host its first-ever virtual 5K from Friday, August 7 – Sunday, August 9, 2020 to benefit two charitable efforts, MSE Foundation’s “Feeding the Frontlines” fund and the Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Registration for the “Raise the Game” Virtual 5K can be accessed through https://www.monumentalfoundation.org/virtual-five-k. Registration is $20 for each participant and proceeds will be split between “Feeding the Frontlines” and the Children’s Inn at NIH. Participants will receive a downloadable race bib and the earliest registrants will be mailed a limited edition, specialty “Raise the Game” T-shirt. Additionally, players and staff from across MSE’s sports teams (the Washington Wizards, Capitals, and Mystics) are contributing suggested titles for a playlist which runners/walkers can listen to as they complete their course. Participants are encouraged to use the hashtag #RaiseTheGame5K during their run.

“We are all experiencing unease during this unprecedented time and Monumental Sports & Entertainment, along with our great partner KETTLER, is excited to bring a creative, safe and healthy way to foster a sense of community as we celebrate the restart of sports league play,” said Jim Van Stone, President of Business Operations and Chief Commercial Officer. “This virtual 5K will not only allow our fans to participate in a collective activity – though appropriately social distanced – but will be giving back to two great and noble causes which benefit our pandemic frontline workers and children battling serious illnesses and their families.”

Feeding the Frontlines” was created by the MSE Foundation, in partnership with the Washington Wizards’ chefs at FLIK, the Washington Capitals’ chefs at SuperFd and a nonprofit within MSE’s Social Impact program, DC Central Kitchen, to produce healthy, fresh meals for community heroes. The daily delivery of meals began in early April and hit its milestone 15,000th meal delivered in early July. The Foundation is continuing its fundraising and delivery as the forces of the coronavirus pandemic continues to affect our region.

“KETTLER and The Children’s Inn at NIH each share core values founded on creating ‘a place to call home,’ where families can feel a sense of belonging, safety, support and care. As a family-centric brand, our commitment to improving communities is inclusive of serving those who need assistance the most,” says Cindy Fisher, President of KETTLER. “Our partnership with The Inn has allowed us to provide support with employee volunteers, game experiences and entertainment to families, and now offer support in a special time of need with this virtual 5k. We look forward to bringing a sense of togetherness and give back during this unprecedented time, in partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment.”

The Children’s Inn at National Institute for Health (NIH) provides lodging, groundbreaking research, and support services for seriously ill children and their families. The Children’s Inn relies on the support of local community volunteers to assist with their daily operations. Because of this, the Pandemic has affected how many children receive meals, treatment, and participate in potentially life-saving clinical trials. Now, more than ever, The Inn is depending on the community to help in other ways like contributing items on their Amazon Wish List, to help keep The Inn’s pantry stocked, so families have non-perishable foods available, and donating to the NIH Blood Bank due to the national blood shortage. The funds raised from the Raise the Game 5k, in partnership with KETTLER, will help to keep children and families safe and cared for while seeking care at The Children’s Inn.
